[Meet The People] Introducing Pro Lesly Mariscal to the People

The esthetician behind Missfit Essentials in Granada Hills, California on her skincare journey.

ICYMI, Youth To The People recently launched Pros To The People, an exciting new initiative in partnership with seven ultra-talented licensed estheticians across the U.S. and Canada, all of whom will serve as yet another amazing resource to the YTTP community. Over the next year, you’ll get to know these experts on a personal level as they share their diverse stories and how they got to where they are today. That, and they’ll of course be dropping an avalanche of skincare knowledge and sharing their own unique approaches to all things skin.

Expect to see (and learn!) a ton from these talented souls in the coming months. In the meantime, get to know each estie via Meet The People. Without further ado…

The Pro: Lesly Mariscal
The Place: Missfit Essentials in Granada Hills, California

When Lesly Mariscal graduated high school in 2011, she had every intention of going into broadcast journalism—but the universe had completely different plans for her. After receiving encouragement and support from her family, Lesly wound up enrolling in an eyelash extension course at Paul Mitchell in March of 2018. Lo and behold, soon after graduating, she came up with the idea for her own lash service brand. She called it Missfit.

Six months into doing lashes out of her bedroom while maintaining a full-time job and being a full-time student, Lesly made the tough choice to go all in, which meant she’d leave college, quit her job, and enroll in esthetician school. This was the turning point that changed everything.

“During my time in esthetician school, I realized how much I enjoyed educating myself on the complexities of all skin types,” she says. “I also really loved educating people on their skin health and the steps needed to help them reach their goals.”

In April 2019, Lesly graduated as a licensed esthetician and opened up her very own studio, Missfit Essentials, a mere two-and-a-half months later.

“Within just six months of opening, my clientele base and skill set had outgrown the space, so I transitioned into a storefront in August of 2020,” she recalls. “Missfit has become my favorite place on Earth. I’ve truly enjoyed every step of the way and am so thankful for the clients who have been with me during everything.”

Located in the suburbs of Los Angeles, Missfit Essentials is warm and inviting (think pastel walls and cozy furnishings), a safe space to indulge in some self-care via Lesly’s remarkable facials.

As for Lesly’s favorite part of being an esthetician, that would be the educational element, hands down.

“Educating people to help them reach their skin goals is everything to me,” she says. “Consistency is key and so are the correct products for your skin type! More often than not people fall victim to skin trends and fall far off the track to healthy skin.” Thankfully, Lesly comes through by helping her clients stay on track so their skin can look and feel its best.

And that, folks, is a brief background on how Lesly built a career as an estie and became part of YTTP’s Pros To The People program. Now keep reading for more fun facts—including her favorite YTTP product and the skincare ethos she lives by.
