This would mean that octocrylene, homosalate, and octisalate all absorb UVB rays that are typically shorter in wavelength than UVA. So functionally, octisalate and homosalate perform similarly in absorbing UVB rays, which tend to be around 295-315nm.

SPFs should be applied as the last step in your skincare routine, and before makeup if makeup is being used. To maintain an SPF value, in our case: SPF 60, this product should be re-applied every two hours.

•[ Antioxidant activity helps defend against free radicals ] We love talking about antioxidants at YTTP! Constant oxidative stress can lead to premature aging, such as dullness, fine lines, and dryness. The presence of antioxidants help stabilize free radicals to defend against those effects. We formulated with 1% vitamin E for many reasons, but one being AOX activity. In addition, this ingredient is known for nourishing the skin for a softer feel overall.

Pollution adhesion is the action of toxic airborne microparticles (PM 2.5) sticking to and accumulating on your skin throughout the day, whether inside or outside, and regardless of where you live. And depending where you live, these 2.5 pollutants can come from a multitude of sources, for example: pollen, dust, smoke, etc. Why is this so important in reducing? Pollution on skin can lead to skin un-comfortability, dullness, oxidative stress, skin barrier damage, etc.

With the 4 factors of skin health, we focus on factors that might contribute to premature aging, alongside constant sun exposure. This product is about protecting what you already have (nothing wrong with aging! 😊), versus allowing UV damage and pollutants to cause unnecessary, premature aging. We formulated this product for a high Sun Protection Factor of 60 (SPF 60) and impressive level of antioxidant activity to help promote skin longevity.

Using a broad spectrum sunscreen helps protect the skin from UVA rays, known for causing photodamage, and UVB rays, known for causing sunburns. Protecting from both helps reduce the potential risk of premature skin aging, as well as skin cancer.

The difference between the two filters are that chemical sunscreens absorb into the skin and absorb UV rays, and mineral sunscreens sit on the skin and deflect UV rays. There is a misconception that mineral is "safer," likely because of the fact it sits on the skin, leaving less room for ingredients to interact with someone who might be allergic to them. Those with darker skin tones are almost always limited to chemical sunscreens because of the non-negotiable white/purple cast. For us, a chemical sunscreen made the most sense to develop first to prioritize inclusivity, and that it has the potential to provide more skincare benefits than that of a mineral sunscreen.
