“We wanted to find a sustainable, ethically sourced, vegan, plant-based ingredient that has a high content of water-binding compounds to hydrate skin—something that has adapted to extreme environmental conditions [such as] strong sunlight, extreme drought, and temperature change,” says Tran.
The organic cactus elixir, also known as prickly pear extract, was a perfect match. Traditionally used in Mexican medicine to treat burns, this ingredient has exceptional hydrating properties—attributed to its high content of water-binding compounds—that can address multiple skin concerns at once.

According to Tran, the cactus was grown, harvested, and sourced from a multi-generational family farm in Puebla, Mexico, located 1,900 meters above sea level. To ensure that the plant is healthy throughout the year, local residents in the rural area are paid fair wages to maintain and harvest the cactus.
