Keep Skin Firm With This 5-Step Daily Routine

As we age, the collagen in the body becomes less abundant—and as a result, skin can start to look a little lax, or loose, over time. But so long as you have a solid skincare routine under your belt—that, and you do your best to avoid environmental aggressors like cigarette smoke, UV exposure, and pollution—you can keep your skin looking firm, bouncy, and taut for far longer. A few ingredients that do an incredible job at firming the skin include peptides, goji stem cells, ceramides, and vitamin C. Today though, we’re going beyond just ingredients and breaking down what a full-blown skin-firming routine should look like.

“In Youth To The People products, we most commonly use vitamin C to help firm,” says Krystin Phillips, YTTP’s Director of Customer Experience. “Not only does it help to even tone, but vitamin C can also help to smooth and trigger collagen synthesis in our skin cells, which firms up the skin.” For this reason, Phillips recommends incorporating vitamin C into several steps of your regimen, starting with cleanser.

“For a firming routine, I recommend the Superfood Cleanser, our 15% Vitamin C + Clean Caffeine Energy Serum, the Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream, and the Dream Eye Cream, all of which have vitamin C in them,” says Phillips. In addition to vitamin C, these products also contain some of the aforementioned firming ingredients; for instance, you’ll find both ceramides and goji stem cells in the eye cream, too.

“This routine is friendly for all skin types,” says Phillips. “However, if you need more hydration, I would suggest trying our Superberry Dream Oil and the Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream.” The latter moisturizer is made with peptides, which work by signaling the skin to make more collagen, thus resulting in firmer, smoother-looking skin when used consistently over time. As for our Superberry Dream Oil, it features high levels of vitamin C—as well as superhydrators like prickly pear and acai—making it an excellent facial oil to have in your arsenal, especially if skin firming is a goal of yours.
