When formulating the Superberry Dream product lineup, Youth To The People’s product development team knew they wanted to include a combination of nutrient-rich oils that not only deeply nourish and condition the skin, but that protect against environmental stressors and help repair existing damage done by the sun, pollution, and so on. Lo and behold, YTTP landed on jojoba, moringa, squalane, and sunflower oils—all of which can be found in the Dream products in one way or another, including in the brand-new Superberry Dream Cleansing Balm.
“Jojoba, moringa, squalane, and sunflower oils are all featured in our Dream products, but the blend is not the same in each formula,” explains Laura Cline, Senior Director of Education + Product Development at Youth To The People. “Depending upon the function of the product, we utilize different lightweight, non-congestive oils that are conditioning and rich in omegas to lock water in and help keep a healthy moisture barrier.”
In other words, though the blend isn’t the exact same in each product, YTTP selects these specific dreamy oils because they’re all brimming with antioxidants, omegas, and vitamins that—as Cline puts it—“positively impact skin health without feeling heavy or too oily.” Together, they feature omegas 3, 6, 9, and 12, as well as vitamin E, which has been shown to scavenge free radicals and subsequently minimize the impact that environmental stressors like pollution have on the skin.
To Cline’s point, though the Dream Balm is indeed a salve-like formula that feels oily on contact, it doesn’t feel the least bit heavy or greasy—that, and it definitely won’t leave behind any filmy residue on the skin the way that some cleansing balms tend to do. Instead, it gently and seamlessly breaks down makeup, SPF, and excess sebum without stripping the skin of its essential, barrier-protecting oils.
These oils are non-comedogenic and safe for all skin types to use, and it’s worth noting that they’re especially gentle and beneficial for sensitive skin as they’re super-conditioning and calming, with powerful properties that aid in reducing redness and irritation.
