YTTP’s Beautiful People is serving up an ace with professional tennis player Madison Keys. This series from Youth To The People highlights people who are positively contributing to their community and culture through their creativity, talents, social impact, activism, and more.
Ranked as high as 7th in the world with six titles to her name, Madison Keys recently returned to the Grand Slam, all while she prepares for even greater results with the charity she founded called Kindness Wins.
When Madison Keys steps on the court, the crowd in her ears, the TV cameras in her face, and the pressure of her opponent on the other side of the net, she has plenty of noise to distract her from the game. It’d be easy to get caught up, but she knows she plays her best tennis when she remembers to tell herself one thing:
“You play tennis for your job. This is really cool; remember to have fun!”
That doesn’t mean the pressure doesn’t get to her, but through experience, she’s learned that sometimes, the only thing we have is the present moment, and relying on other people when she needs to be strongest actually makes her even more powerful.
And that’s beautiful.
