How to Get Smoother Skin in Two Minutes Flat

09 May 2022

With the Energy Facial, active enzymes from pineapple and papaya help break down dead skin, then micro-exfoliants get to work to remove the dead skin.

Even if you have your perfect skincare routine down pat, sometimes skin texture happens—but don’t despair! All you need is a little extra oomph in your routine. A simple at-home solution will smooth your skin in two minutes flat. Have you met the Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial?

“The Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial is my favorite product,” says Jessie Giammalva, licensed esthetician and interim social media manager at Youth To The People. “The Energy Facial has diatomaceous earth and sustainable bamboo extract, combined with enzymes for dual-action exfoliation. The formula is finely milled for gentle physical exfoliation. A physical polish is super important to smooth skin texture.” The active enzymes from pineapple and papaya help break down dead skin, then micro-exfoliants get to work to remove the dead skin.

Giammalva recommends using the Energy Facial in the shower to get the two-minute facial down pat.

“It's a much better user experience,” says Giammalva. “I love to get into the shower, and I’ll first wash my face, then apply the Energy Facial like a mask, and let it sit for two minutes while I wash my body, shave my legs—whatever's happening that day.” After two minutes are up, Giammalva suggests adding more water to the face and gently polishing in circular motions to remove the facial and get the smoothest results.

“Then I'll rinse, hop out, and my skin is fresh and prepped and ready for what’s next,” says Giammalva. For the next and last step (super easy!), she recommends an overnight mask, like the Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask.

“Going in with that Dream Mask afterward will hydrate skin, even skin tone, and brighten,” says Giammalva. The Dream mask is loaded with antioxidants, so it’ll deliver a glow plus replenish the moisture barrier.

“The Dream Mask—or any serum or moisturizer—is going to work even better when you exfoliate beforehand because you're removing that top layer of rough, dry skin,” says Giammalva, which means the serums, moisturizer, and masks can get to work more efficiently.

Whether you apply the Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial in the shower or at the sink, start your routine with clean skin. Giammalva recommends the Superfood Cleanser, which is pH-balanced and is non-drying. Leave skin damp after cleansing—the Energy Facial should always be applied to wet skin.

For sensitive complexions, it’s best to check with your dermatologist before introducing a physical or chemical exfoliant into your routine. Giammalva recommends mixing a small amount of the Energy Facial in your hand with water, applying, and leaving it on for less than the standard two minutes, and adding more water to it as you go, but most importantly:

“Listen to your skin,” she says, “Remove it with water if it's starting to tingle too much.”

To maintain that smooth complexion, Giammalva suggests starting with that dynamic once per week and then working your way up to two to three times per week, checking in with your skin to see how it’s responding.

“For smooth skin, it makes a huge difference,” she says.
