Skin dryness, if you’re acquainted with it, is a truly uncomfortable feeling; skin feels tight and parched—or even worse, chapped (especially in the colder months). Though unfortunate, it’s totally normal for the winter temps (and the indoor heating that comes with it) to zap some of the moisture out of our skin.
The good news is that the Youth To The People lineup is stacked when it comes to not only addressing dryness—but even restoring skin’s hydration and comfort overnight. Krystin Phillips, Youth To The People’s Director of Customer Experience, recommends the following routine when it comes to restoring skin’s hydration overnight (aka: true beauty sleep).
As in any good skincare routine, you’ll want to start with a cleanser. YTTP’s Superfood Cleanser is beloved for a reason—it cleanses skin gently, without stripping, and leaves behind skin-protecting antioxidants.
“It’s pH-balanced and helps to deep clean the pores, removing any oil, dirt, or debris—plus, it is a multitasker that can also help to remove makeup. This helps to clean and prime skin for your treatment products to further address dry skin,” Phillips explains.
Though sometimes it can seem counterintuitive, exfoliation is a major key when it comes to addressing dehydration in the skin. Dry skin needs a product to “sweep away dead skin and help to smooth skin texture and minimize the appearance of pores,” Phillips says. She recommends the Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner for this. This formula blends gentle, vegan chemical exfoliators (8% lactic acid, which hydrates while it exfoliates, and 3% glycolic acid).
“Additionally, the kombucha black tea and tree bark ferments act as prebiotics to support the skin's natural microbiome,” she says.
Next up, a multi award-winning, true YTTP cult classic—the Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask—a “sleeping mask” (aka, a thick moisturizer that boosts hydration and glow overnight). It contains not one, two, or even three, but four powerful hydrators—squalane, hyaluronic acid, betaine, and glycerin. These, she explains, work together “to help to plump skin and lock in moisture while protecting the skin from dehydrating during the night.”
Finally, you gotta hydrate that delicate skin around your eyes (some of the thinnest skin we have!)—and for that, you need Superberry Dream Eye Cream—which delivers “high tech goji stem cells and plant-based ceramides along with THD ascorbate (vitamin C) that work together to promote complete eye area recovery,” Phillips says. “The vegan hyaluronic acid helps to plump skin and lock in moisture around the eye area, leaving behind well-hydrated and smooth skin.”
