Selecting a serum to elevate your skincare routine isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience. While Youth To The People provides two pro-grade vegan serum offerings—15% Vitamin C + Caffeine Energy Serum and Triple Peptide + Cactus Oasis Serum—that get the jobs done, there are recommended times to use both.
“Putting our skin out there in the daytime in direct sunlight or different climates during the day—you want to make sure you’re setting your skin up for success, outside of applying sunscreen,” says Jacob Tomás del Rosario, Youth To The People’s Director of Field Sales + Education, recommending the Energy Serum as a morning mainstay in your routine.
This lightweight, caffeine-infused serum is known for its energizing and depuffing benefits, which are both must-haves when you’re gearing up for a long day ahead. It features antioxidant-dense superleafs like guayusa and yerba mate and “a really mindful selection of synthetic vitamin C that’s completely stable and not volatile to air, light, or time,” according to del Rosario.
The Triple Peptide + Cactus Oasis Serum can absolutely be used during the day, it actually layers nicely with the Energy Serum—especially if firmer, smoother skin is your main goal. It’s also a product that works wonders come bedtime. In the case of your PM regimen, del Rosario recommends taking a break from playing defense during the day and switching to skin-saving mode at night.
“I like to focus more on that reparative mode your skin is in [at night],” he says. “While your skin is focusing on repairing whatever damage from the daytime, you can really utilize the key ingredients in the Oasis Serum, like peptides and 4D hyaluronic acid, to really draw water into the skin in the evening. The peptides in particular go to work to plump and strengthen the skin and really encourage the skin’s ability to appear firm.”
How should you start using serums?
As always, the most important step in your skincare routine is making sure your skin is thoroughly cleansed. Try YTTP’s Superfood Cleanser, a gentle yet effective cleanser that’s formulated with antioxidants from kale, spinach, and green tea. Then, after applying your serum(s) of choice, seal your skincare routine with moisturizer.
“I love using the Energy Serum in the morning with the Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream,” shares del Rosario. “I use this serum around my ocular bone, obviously not getting too close to the eye area, but just around that area where you might need some depuffing around the cheeks. The sunflower oil in the Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream helps to really lock in the hydration comfortably throughout the day without feeling greasy or heavy.”
As for his nighttime skincare routine, del Rosario pairs the Triple Peptide + Cactus Oasis Serum with the award-winning Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask.
“I love that combination because it’s literally flooding your skin with water,” he says. “Putting on the Dream Mask is like your insurance that water is not going to vaporize from the skin. It really helps to plump and firm while you sleep.”
How’s that for a full day (and night) of beauty?
