YTTP & GLSEN: We Remain United, together for the Future
We remain united. Youth To The People will always be committed to supporting everyone’s right to belong and right to the opportunities needed to thrive. In classrooms across the nation, LBGTQ+ youth face extraordinary challenges that threaten not only their ability to thrive but their safety. This year, we honor Pride Month by continuing our longstanding support for GLSEN, a leading national nonprofit providing safe and inclusive educational programs for the LGBTQ+ community. For over 30 years, GLSEN has been the nation’s leading advocate for LGBTQ+ youth in education – a beacon of hope and a catalyst for systemic change. GLSEN has been the definitive source of insight into the lived experiences of L GBTQ+ students, providing essential data, shaping national conversation around equity in education, and ensuring the policies and programs of the entire LGBTQ+ advocacy network – and of our government – are grounded in the reality of students' lives.
"When my child came out as nonbinary, I was scared for them—scared they wouldn’t feel accepted, scared they’d be bullied, and scared they wouldn’t be able to be their true self at school. With GLSEN’s support my child could connect with others who understood them, find resources, and build confidence. I watched them go from feeling isolated to leading meetings and advocating for inclusivity. GLSEN’s work didn’t just help my child thrive—it gave me hope for their future."– Susie J., Parent of an LGBTQ+ youth
GLSEN Resources Hub
We will be partnering up with the GLSEN Resources Hub to protect a critical vehicle of educational information that is accessible to all. Since its founding, GLSEN has created and updated both resources and guides for students, educators, community members and families alike to utilize in building safe and inclusive spaces for students across the country. Resources include activities for students and educators to conduct at Gender and Sexuality meetings; screening guides for guardians, educators or students to use to talk about LGBTQ+ inclusive media; curriculums for educators to use for literature and history lessons; and guides for students and community members to make testimonies at their school board meetings to support policy changemaking.
Throughout its history GLSEN has laid the foundation for a more just and equitable society through transformative programming. Youth to the People continues its support for GLSEN this year to help ensure that no matter what happens in the world around us, students, parents, educators and community members can still access critical resources and educate themselves on best practices and activities that protect and uplift young LGBTQ+ leaders.
We encourage our community to learn more about ways to support GLSEN and check out the Resources Hub site here (the link in bio).
