[QUIZ] Should Your Skincare Routine Be Restorative or Preventative?

28 Feb 2022

Take this quiz to find out the best skincare for your age and skin health.

When it comes to skincare, the best routine is the one that works for you. But do you know how to narrow down which products are deserving place in the daily rotation, and which to reach for when you need an extra boost?

“Creating the right routine means you’ll be able to achieve your skincare goals faster, and with fewer products,” explains Youth To The People’s Director of Field Sales and Education,  Jacob Tomás del Rosario. “The key is to zero in on whether your goals fall into the restorative or preventative category. ”

In Youth To The People speak, a restorative regimen is one which actively targets the skin goals of millennial and Gen Xers who are likely by now noticing the first signs of aging (like a loss in firmness and the appearance of fine lines). The preventative category, then, zeros in on the skincare needs of Gen Z, most of whom may have yet to witness their first wrinkle, but may want to get ahead of things when maintaining that youthful glow. Age group aside, skin’s needs can vary from person to person, day to day, depending on a whole host of factors.

Still not sure how to tell if you need a routine that’s preventative or restorative? Take the quiz below to officially pin down whether your skin could benefit from either approach.

Prevention Is Your Middle Name

It’s likely that you’ve yet to see any visible signs of premature aging, but that’s not to say you’re not interested in slowing down the process when it occurs. Perhaps you’re more concerned with tackling congestion, increased oil production, or irritation right now? Or maybe this is your first foray into skincare and you could use a little guidance on where to begin? Whatever the case, now’s the time to get to grips with a simple yet effective routine that will set your skin up for success in your future years.

If you got mostly Bs…

You’re the Restorative Type

For the most part, hormonal breakouts are behind you—but that’s not to say you don’t still experience bouts of congestion. Mainly though, you’re looking to alleviate the slight decline in your skin’s natural buoyancy and restore firmness via plumping, hydrating ingredients. Adding in products that boost cell turnover and encourage collagen production are your best bet for leveling your glow up year after year.
