Facts From The Field – Retinal Serum Q+A

We asked Su Lee Diaz, Youth To The People's Regional Sales and Education Executive for the Northeast, to answer some of the top questions about our Retinal Serum.

Q: What makes YTTP Retinal + Niacinamide Youth Serum different from other retinol serums?
A: Our serum uses Retinaldehyde as the main active ingredient along with 5% niacinamide, unlike traditional retinol serums. Retinaldehyde is the most potent form of vitamin A you can get over the counter without a prescription and is 10x more bioavailable than retinol. With that said, the results are incredible and much faster than if you were to use regular retinol serums. Coupling the retinaldehyde with niacinamide also amplifies the effects by supporting the smoothing and evening effects of the retinaldehyde.

Q: Is the Retinal + Niacinamide Youth Serum irritating?
A: Not at all! Most people, including myself, are concerned with the irritating side effects of retinol but our Retinal Youth Serum is coupled with calming and hydrating ingredients, so you get all the benefits without any of the usual down time. Down time refers to red, irritated skin or dry, peeling skin the next day. Our serum contains adaptogens, like Ashwagandha and Reishi, which are calming ingredients that help alleviate the effects of potential stressors on the skin. In addition, ceramides are also included, which are fatty acids that help with moisturizing the skin while strengthening and protecting the skin’s moisture barrier.

Q: Can a first-time retinol user use the YTTP Retinal + Niacinamide Youth Serum?
A: Absolutely! I would encourage first-time retinol users to try ours because the Youth Serum does not cause any irritation or down time after use. As the directions suggest, this is something you would slowly add into your routine, by starting it once a week, at nighttime and then gradually increasing usage over time. I would recommend this for any new treatment product you’re introducing to your routine for the first time.

Q: For someone with sensitive, reactive skin, how would you use Retinal + Niacinamide Youth Serum?
A: I would first recommend doing a patch test, either behind the ear or on the inner fold of your arm to test the product first for any reactions. If that’s clear, then as most dermatologists would recommend is to try incorporating the serum using the “sandwich” method. This would mean sandwiching the Retinal Youth Serum between two hydrating products, so your routine would be to cleanse, moisturize, apply Retinal + Niacinamide Youth Serum, moisturize again, allowing each step to fully absorb and dry between applications. Another pro-tip would be applying a thick eye cream prior to applying the serum so that the serum doesn’t travel to the sensitive eye area while sleeping!
