Hailing from Little Haiti, Miami, Sainvil’s first two projects, 2020 Was Hijacked and In Bad Shape, blend pop synths with trap drums, with his vocal range taking center stage. Sainvil’s music has caught the attention of outlets like Flaunt and NPR, and today he drops a new single—Ashley featuring Guapdad 400. Question 01: How do you help others?
I try to make art that people can relate to. My favorite artist made me feel less alone and showed me I wasn’t the only one who felt/thought a way. I want to do that for my listeners.
Question 02: What will your greatest impact be on this earth?
I hope to get to a place where I have the ability to help change the way my people live and think. Starting with my own family, friends, and community. Then I hope to branch out to my mother’s homeland of Haiti, which is also the first Black independent country.
Question 03: Where are you most free?
I’m most free in my creative space. I start to feel like I can create any world I want. I control the vibe and love to keep it high. At times, it’s like time doesn’t exist inside the room.
Question 06: What does pride mean to you?
Pride to me is a double edge sword. It can help as much as it can hurt. It can strengthen as much as it can weaken. I’ve lost people and gained people through my pride.
Question 07: Describe something that inspired a change in your perspective.
Therapy has honestly changed my perspective on everything in life. It has let me become more comfortable as a Black man to share how I feel without feeling weak, which was a new feeling. And being able to have a non-biased perspective helped me lower my guard to receive honest criticism.
Question 08: What is your coolest trick?
I can do voice impersonation of different cartoon characters and entertainers.
Question 09: What is your favorite memory in nature?
My favorite memory in nature is when my family and I went to a Florida hot spring.
Question 12: To you, what is the most soothing sound?
The most soothing sound to me is my cash app notification sound.

Inner life because it’s a lot harder to be good within.
