Meet The Muse: Superfoods in 2024

23 Apr 2024
Before Youth To The People had a product to its name, co-founders Joe Cloyes and Greg Gonzalez were ping-ponging ideas back and forth about ingredients–and a question was raised about nutrient-dense green juices and skincare. They wondered: What might happen if you applied chlorophyll-rich antioxidants topically, given all the proven benefits of ingesting them?

Turns out, only good things!

Flash forward to today, and superfoods of all kinds plus science remain at the heart of all YTTP products, explains the brand’s VP of Product Development, Laura Cline: “The thought process for formulating every product we’ve ever put out is how do these two elements complement each other.”

Sometimes that means starting with an inspirational natural ingredient and applying science to it for visible and lasting results. Other times it starts with the advancement of a new technology. Occasionally, it means applying that new technology to a pre-existing formula to see if it can better serve skin health with a little tweak.

The latter was the case with the reformulated Superfood Air-Whip Moisturizer.

“Thanks to the evolution of skin tech, we’ve been able to dial up the results of Air-Whip and further improve the user experience, which was already amazing,” says Cline. “Now it provides six times more hydration for up to 48 hours, and is able to restore skin barrier function in one hour, thanks to newly recalibrated ratio of our proprietary Superfood Blend, seven vital hydrators, and the addition of three molecular weights of hyaluronic acid which weren’t available at the time of the original formulation.“

YTTP’s Superfood Blend contains kale, green tea, spinach, alfalfa extract, chamomile, and aloe vera juice, and showing your skin some love with it comes with some really big benefits–like increased antioxidant protection against daily environmental aggressors and free radical damage. It also contains tons of vitamins and phytonutrients, which work together to flood the skin with cooling hydration and calm inflamed, congestion-prone skin.

“Just like incorporating more greens into your diet, you’ll get the best results if you apply superfoods to your skin consistently,” says Cline. “That means adding the new and improved Air-Whip to your AM and PM regimen every day for a full cell turnover cycle, which for most people clocks in at around 30 days.”

To apply, smooth a dime-sized amount of the light-as-air moisturizer onto clean skin, massage it in–and let the superfoods get to work.
